What is Humans in AI Week?
Halifax · June 1–7, 2026 · 200+ cities · 50+ countries · One week · One question
Every AI Collective chapter in the world hosts a public event during the same week. Where are we going with AI, and who gets a say?
AI is being built in this city right now by founders, community organizations, researchers, and everyday people using it to solve problems that matter. Across healthcare, education, equity, small business, and beyond.
This week is Halifax’s chance to bring that work into the open and celebrate the humans behind it.
The Night
Thursday June 4. El Este Taqueria. Casual, high-energy, zero pretension.
Tacos, salsa & dips
Brisket, chicken, mushroom. Sides tableside all night.
Margaritas & trivia
Data sovereignty trivia game presented by TELUS.
Three show & tells
Selected community builders. Real problems. Live demos. No decks.
The Show & Tell
Three Halifax people.
Ten minutes each. Zero decks.
We’re selecting three community members at any stage to share what they’re building with AI for Haligonians. What connects them: their work directly impacts how we live, work, or play.
Selected presenters confirmed by May 29.
The 10-minute format
The problem
What human mess are you cleaning up? Set the scene. Make the room feel it.
The build
Show the real thing. Slides, a live demo, or a recording. Make it concrete.
The human impact
Who is specifically better off because this exists? Get concrete.
Your ask
60 people's attention. A user, a co-builder, honest feedback, an intro. What do you need?
Who belongs here
This stage is for people who started with a person, not a prompt.
Any background. Any stage. The one thing every selected presenter shares: what they’re building or exploring with AI directly impacts how we live, work, or play.
You built it for someone
A real person with a real problem. A patient, a newcomer, a student, a small business owner. You saw the friction and you built something to address it.
You can name who's better off
Not 'this could help people like X.' Someone is already using it, testing it, or waiting for it. You can describe them in a sentence.
You can show it
Slides, a live demo, or a recording. It doesn't have to be perfect. It has to be real.
We’re looking for a mix of:
Community problem-solver
Non-technical. Testing out a problem with a person in mind.
Using AI to address something real, whether through vibe coding or hands-on experimentation.
MVP starter
Early build. Something to show.
A working demo or early product built for a specific person or use case.
Founder scaling
Launched. Active in the ecosystem.
A product in market with real users, actively building in Halifax.
The Room
You’ll be sharing your work with a room of people who care about where AI is going in Halifax — and want to see it built for people, not just profit.
Builders & founders
People actively building AI products and tools in Atlantic Canada.
Ecosystem leaders
Private, public, and nonprofit organizations shaping Halifax's AI future.
Community members
Students, healthcare workers, educators, organizers — people AI is being built for.
Curious Haligonians
People who showed up because they care about where this is all going.
